Two on duty uniformed police officers PC WALTER BUSWELL and PC MAURICE BARSLEY were driving in the Darley Moor area near Ashbourne in the Peak District when BUSWELL suddenly noticed some lights in the sky from a mile distant that he initially believed to be the Aurora Borealis. They stopped the police car and got out to have a closer look. As they did so they could hear a faint humming noise. Then a man on a motor scooter appeared who was visibly frightened who told them the light had followed his bike up a hill and dropped down in front of him. The man got into the police vehicle and the three of them drove to higher ground. There they reported the object to their control. The light was seen to disappear and reappear several times before it suddenly projected a beam down to the ground before it vanished for the last time. As it departed a red light appeared in the sky that arced away into the distance. Moments later they heard over the radio that a UFO had been reported over the town of Cheadle a short distance away. *08/06/2008. Location: St. Athan near Cardiff, South Wales. The South and East Wales Air Support Unit police helicopter crew (operated by Bond Air Services with a civilian pilot and on this occasion one police officer spotter) reported seeing a UFO as it was about to land at its base in St Athan near Cardiff. The helicopter is owned jointly by the South Wales and Gwent police forces. An official police press release confirmed that the incident had occurred and that it had been reported to the relevant authorities. The incident attracted widespread media attention after it featured on the front page of ‘The Sun’ newspaper. The paper stated that the helicopter had had to take avoiding action to prevent a collision. My own enquiries via two FOI enquiries with South Wales police proved puzzling to say the least. Despite the widespread media attention and their confirmation that there had been a UFO related incident the Force stated that no other than the written material other than the press release existed – i.e. no incident log, no pocket book entries, no statements and no report that was sent to the ‘relevant authorities.’ Frankly I find that impossible to accept.
